Sinus is a hollow, air-filled cavity within the bones of the skull and these cavities are lined with a layer of mucus-producing tissue. It is connected to the nasal passages and every individual has four pairs of para-nasal sinuses. These help lighten the skull and moisten the air we breathe. It also enhances our voice resonance.
What are the types of sinuses?
Following are the types of sinuses-
1. Frontal sinus- It is one of the four paired sinuses that is located in the frontal bone of the skull. This hollows space is lined with mucus-producing cells. These cells keep the nasal passages moist and clear. It is situated in the frontal lobe and above the eyebrows. It is triangular in shape and it can also vary significantly in size and shape.

3. Sphenoid sinus- It is one of the four paranasal sinuses which is located between the sphenoid bone. Thus, the diagnosis of the same can be a little challenging.
4. Maxillary sinus- It is one of the largest paranasal sinuses located in the maxillary bones. They play a major role in air filtration. They are situated below the eyes and alongside the nose.

4.Chiratya.

However, it can support sinus relief indirectly. The herb reduces inflammation in the body. It also reduces swelling and irritation in the nasal passages during sinus infections. 5.Kokilaksha.
This is a traditional ayurvedic herb used for urinary tract disorders, edema and sinus. The anti-inflammatory properties of the drug help reduce sinus. It also supports the immune system and also helps the body respond better to chronic infections. It helps eliminate excess Kapha and Ama which are major contributors to mucus accumulation and sinus congestion. It is not a first choice for sinusitis. However, it is a part of a broader ayurvedic treatment plan!
